The Trinity Baptist Church of Alor Star organized a food and fun fair at their church grounds yesterday to raise funds for an orphanage and an old folks home. They intend to buy two houses nearby for this purpose. They already operate a dialysis center, a soup kitchen and a center for the physically and mentally handicapped. The response from the locals (non-muslims) to this event was tremendous. Below are some photos of this fair.

YAY! Looks like fun! Did they raise all the money that they needed? Linda was telling me about this when she was visiting and our church even took an offering to help out! We are praying that God will do great things and provide for this cause! (sounds like one he'd support ;) hee hee).
Hi Marie! I am not sure if they managed to get the money required for the purchase of the 2 houses from one event like this. But I am very sure God will provide, one way or the other.. :)
sounds exciting. wish i were there...
Hi David,
Mani said they managed to raise more than half a million from this event together with donations from K.L. Very soon Lorong Tiong will belong to TBC.. heh heh.
The mention of non-muslims was supposed to mean Christians and non-Christians. The support from the non-Christians was very good. As this news is in the cyber world, I don't know who actually passes by and reads my post. As such I thought by mentioning non-muslims, it would be clear that muslims would not go to such a fair organized by the church, even though there were a handful present there. Some of the muslims do send their children to the kindergarten.
I don't want to be the one who was the cause of an email from a religious head of department banning muslims from attending such an event for fear of them being converted to Christianity!
What do you think? This is Malaysia. It could happen.
